The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees named Dr. Arturo Cavazos as the district's Interim Superintendent during a special noon meeting on Sept. 20.

 

Dr. Cavazos will serve as Interim Superintendent until a permanent selection is made. He replaces Dr. Steve Flores as he embarks on his transition to Round Rock Independent School District as Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Steve Flores named Superintendent of Schools at Round Rock ISD

 

 

The Round Rock Independent School District Board of Trustees have named Dr. Steve Flores as their Superintendent of Schools during their regular meeting on Sept. 19.

 

Dr. Flores will replace retiring superintendent and former HCISD superintendent Dr. Jesus H. Chavez.

Long student receives $1,000 scholarship to pursue his dreams

  

  

 

With his green tie perfectly knotted and his smile ear to ear, Isaac Castaneda, third grade student at Long Elementary, prepares for his future as a superintendent with a little help from the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF).

 

Students and staff at Long Elementary cheered Castaneda on as he received a $1,000 scholarship from the GTF during a special assembly on Sept. 16.

Coakley student brings her own twist to classic masterpieces

HHSS speech, drama and debate win big at competition

 

This past weekend the Harlingen High School South Speech, Drama and Debate team traveled to Corpus Christi to compete in their second Texas Forensics Association competition at Mary Carroll High School.

 

 HHSS returned with multiple trophies as a result of their stunning performance at the TFA competition.

Ben Milam teachers recognized for efforts by WalMart

 

 

 

 

The Wal-Mart Superstore in Harlingen recently awarded twenty teachers from Ben Milam Elementary a total of $2,000.

 

These teachers were selected and recognized for spending a portion of their own money for their students.
